Gilad Erdan is convinced that what Israel needs is another new party. Erdan is an interesting phenomenon: his face is cardboard, his voice is robotic, and he is a kind of political hologram in a suit. He has been in public life for 30 years and has served as an advisor, a Knesset member, and a minister for various affairs, by the way, not without achievements. His last position - Ambassador to the United States. With the launch of his party, he promises unity. The man does not enjoy a large audience of supporters, and is already interested in subordinating the system to his desires.

The launch of his party was accompanied by a video in which he sits on a sofa in a black shirt, joined by Yuli Edelstein as if at a pajama party, and together they screened Goldknopf on the phone. In a series of interviews this week, he did not have a single piece of news. No idea, no ideology or agenda - certainly not a worldview. Meanwhile, he talks only about connections and unions or joinings and departures, as if that is what we gathered for.

Almost three years after the massacre, less than three months before the fateful elections, Israel is still at war, and a pretentious politician stuffed into a suit sits in the studio and all he has to announce is nothing and void. Even before he says good evening, he is already ruling out, for example, Yair Golan. And also Mansour Abbas. From his seat below the electoral threshold, he promises not to sit with this one and not to join that one, and who he will force to sit with whom. "I will force, I will demand, I will not give." In slang they say "who are you?".

In this sense, he is the twin of Gideon Sa'ar, whose abilities are measured only by identifying falling stocks, exiting at the right time, betting correctly, escaping before a collapse, establishing a party at the right time, dismantling it, and then securing his place on a more comfortable list. There is no statement or news in his mouth, he has no organized plan in his bag.

And in fact, what are all the "third bloc" candidates if not free radicals, a group of stray mules, a collection of lost refugees who gathered in pairs into fragments of parties, none of which, according to the polls, receives the desired four mandates, certainly not five guaranteed. None of them has done a brave, convention-breaking, awe-inspiring or exciting public political act. They do not bring a new and sweeping story that could upgrade us or draw a different life reality. Gantz and Simhi, Erdan and Yuli, Tropper and Hendel. All are good and unnecessary people. Erdan is also overly smug. Tropper donated a kidney.

In contrast, Yoav Segalovitz's emerging idea to join RAAM sounds like something completely different. This could be a groundbreaking and unprecedented political bang. A Jew, a former police superintendent, joins a united Arab party. This is not like Dov Khenin in Hadash, this is truly a new event. One can not support and even object to the possible alliance, but one must admit that it is almost imaginary.

Segalovitz has receipts. He has already proven himself in dealing with crime in Arab society and has received praise from all sides, especially among heads of local authorities. He dealt with the problem and solved it, with talent, understanding, knowledge, with real abilities. He initiated the "Safe Route" program while serving as Deputy Minister of Internal Security and worked to eradicate crime and violence.

Israeli society desperately needs people like him. Technocrats. People of action - in education, in economics, in crime - who will integrate into the leadership. Candidates who manage to see beyond small politics. Not studio chatterers with hollow messages, who, despite the lack of public support, establish imaginary governments and rule out existing candidates.

In this sense, Abbas is also an inspiring figure, both as a politician and as an Israeli. Except for shouting at him with panic calls: "Shura Council", "Muslim Brotherhood" and quoting things he said in the distant past in Arabic, many do not believe in the change that has taken place in him, in the pragmatism, in the development since Operation Guardian of the Walls through October 7, leading up to the election campaign. In the media, they play unfair condemnation games with him. When he condemns terror - they do not believe him. And if he condemned in Hebrew - why not in Arabic. If he recognizes the State of Israel as Jewish - it is only for appearances. If he joins Segalovitz - it is a trick. He will always be a suspicious Arab for whom no proof, action or statement on his part will ever be good enough.

Segalovitz in RAAM is a connection that helps Arab society substantively, but can also contribute to society as a whole. To strengthen the Israeli identity of Israeli Arabs, to reduce racism, to cooperate - in the good sense of the word - with a fifth of the population in the country.
