Amit Segal, political commentator for Channel 12, addressed the strike held today, Thursday, by the staff. According to the Israel Airports Authority, after airport workers ceased operations, it was decided to stop the work of the check-in counters and subsequently halt the airport's activity. Eventually, the airport gradually resumed operations for landings starting at 15:00, but delays and disruptions are still expected.

In a video he posted on his Instagram account, the journalist harshly criticized Pinhas Idan, chairman of the Israel Airports Authority workers' committee:

'He is a bully and a criminal. What he did today is abuse of the helpless, of 107 thousand Israelis who were supposed to take off or land at Ben Gurion Airport. He simply closes the airport because he feels like it and disappears and does not answer phones. Not him, nor his family members, nor all these people. This corrupt committee must be broken, and the sooner the better. It is time we stop paying for them.'

While the aprons were clogged and the lines stretched to the arrival halls, Minister of Transport Miri Regev was on a private vacation in Morocco with senior officials of her ministry. In a statement issued on her behalf, it was written:

'I have instructed the management of the Israel Airports Authority to petition the Labor Court immediately against the workers' committee in order to force them to stop the bullying and illegal strike.'

Finally, Minister Miri Regev sent a sharp and clear message to the officials responsible for the shutdown of Ben Gurion Airport:

'Whoever made the decision to take tens of thousands of Israeli citizens hostage will pay a heavy price.'
