YouTube Triggers User Backlash After Removing Subscriptions Tab
YouTube has removed the dedicated Subscriptions tab in a new design update, replacing it with a creation button and frustrating users. Android users can bypass the change by using a long-press home screen shortcut.

YouTube has rolled out a controversial design update, removing the dedicated "Subscriptions" tab from the bottom navigation bar and replacing it with a plus (+) button for content creation. Users now must navigate to the home screen and scroll to the top to access a new "Subs" section, breaking years of navigation habits and drawing widespread criticism.
Loss of Functionality and Filters
Beyond the repositioning, the new "Subs" interface lacks key features that previously streamlined viewing. Users report the disappearance of vital filtering options, such as sorting content by "Today" to view the latest uploads. Instead, the updated feed mixes standard videos, Shorts, and recommendations together, complicating the tracking of favorite channels.
How to Restore the Classic Subscriptions Shortcut
For Android users, a simple workaround allows bypassing the new interface and restoring the traditional subscriptions view. By long-pressing the YouTube app icon on the home screen, users can select "Subscriptions" from the pop-up menu or drag the shortcut directly to the desktop for quick access.
This shortcut opens the original subscriptions page complete with all familiar filtering capabilities. It remains unclear whether this workaround is an intended legacy feature or a temporary oversight by developers, but it provides an effective method to maintain the preferred viewing experience.
