Yinon Magal: 'Security forces' fear of shooting costs Jewish lives'

During the 'Patriots' program on Channel 14, host Yinon Magal addressed the severe terror attack that took place at Havat Gilad, in which two Jews were murdered. Magal harshly criticized the conduct of the security forces during the event and claimed that the fear of shooting at terrorists is the central factor in the murder of Jews. According to him, 'The forces that were there should have prevented this.'

Magal explained the reason for our forces' fear of shooting, claiming:

'They are afraid to shoot, because whoever shoots is investigated by the Military Police. Because whoever shoots is abused, even if you shoot a terrorist who just stabbed someone, they put you in prison.'

He emphasized that this reality is the central problem, as it causes soldiers, officers, and civilians alike to fear defending themselves and others. According to Magal, the incident at Havat Gilad began when 'Arabs came to murder Jews,' and developed into a confrontation where the Arabs took weapons and murdered Jews. He stated that 'the forces that were there, the security forces, should have used their weapons properly. A shot in the air, a shot to the legs, a shot to neutralize, in order to prevent this murder.' Magal concluded that 'in the end, it costs the lives of Jews. Again, two Jews were murdered.'
