AG to File New Indictment Against Prisons Chief Kobi Yaakobi
Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara is set to file new charges against Prisons Service Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi for witness harassment, five days before the elections.

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara is expected to file an additional indictment against Prisons Service Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi as part of the "Ben Gvir associates" affair, i24news reported. According to the report, Kobi Yaakobi will be prosecuted for witness harassment and obstruction of justice regarding former police spokesperson Lior Abudraham, who testified against him.
Additional Indictments and Police Departures
Alona Shushan, the retiring head of the police Human Resources Directorate who allegedly recorded Abudraham, is also expected to face charges for witness harassment and obstruction of justice. Around six months ago, it was announced that an initial indictment for breach of trust and obstruction of an investigation would be filed against Kobi Yaakobi. He was suspected of tipping off former Judea and Samaria District YAMAR commander Avishai Moflem about a covert probe into allegations that Yaakobi sought to block the arrest of Jewish terror suspects in the West Bank in exchange for a promotion.
Legal Response and Political Reactions
Attorney Uri Korb, representing Kobi Yaakobi, stated:
We have not yet received official notice. If the reports are accurate, this is another leak in a long chain regarding the Commissioner. The timing of this decision, five days before the elections, speaks volumes.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir strongly criticized the move, calling it a political persecution campaign by the Attorney General against officials executing government policy.
The expected decision to file indictments against Prisons Service Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi five days before the elections is a direct continuation of the persecution campaign by the Attorney General against me and senior officers.
