Daniel Peretz, Israel's top legionnaire in England and a goalkeeper for Southampton, has traveled with the team to their training camp in Germany. The club announced that he is one of four goalkeepers included in the squad.
Peretz was previously spotted with a cast on his hand during the Saints' 3:1 victory over Eastleigh, where he watched from the stands. Reports suggested he was suffering from a wrist issue, which caused significant concern among the fans.
However, he has traveled to Germany for two matches against second-tier Bundesliga sides, Eintracht Braunschweig and Preußen Münster. The squad departed this morning and is set to return on Saturday. Following the trip, the team will hold an open training session for fans before starting their Championship campaign with a 4-point deduction, a lingering consequence of the spying scandal.
Peretz is one of four goalkeepers on the trip, with at least one expected to depart the club soon. This concerns Aaron Ramsdale, whom the club has been attempting to sell throughout the summer, though there has been no significant progress with any interested parties.
Two first-team players, Finn Azaz and Casper Jander, did not travel to the camp due to minor injuries, and coach Tonde Eckert decided not to risk them. Eckert is currently facing the English Football Association's disciplinary committee following last season's spying scandal and has been found guilty, a verdict that could potentially lead to the revocation of his coaching license in England.
