Vance said in this context: "I think the United States is currently in as strong a position as it has ever been, and under the President's leadership, we will only get stronger. We certainly saw during the Biden administration that the military suffered from underinvestment and a lack of resources, and we are fixing that every day."

Vance added: "Obviously, this is something that concerns us, but it concerns us because of long years of underinvestment in the military. This is exactly one of the things that the President of the United States is working to fix."

It should be recalled that about a month ago, it was reported in the "New York Times" that Trump considered a new "massive attack" on Iran, but then senior Pentagon officials warned him against it, due to a shortage of interceptors and the assessment that the United States would struggle to deal with a strong Iranian response to an attack. Vance was asked about the AI video that President Trump published today on the social network Truth Social, which he owns, in which an island is seen being bombed from the air. Alongside the video, Trump wrote that "Kharg Island is being bombed to smithereens." To this, the Vice President replied: "You know the President likes to switch it up on social media. He sent a message to the Iranians."

In Iran itself, they tried to downplay the exchange of blows with the United States overnight, but in the same breath continued with boastful words and threats against the US. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib Abadi said that "the forces have proven that any action threatening our territorial integrity - regardless of its scope - will be met with a most decisive response." The commander of the air defense of the joint Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, Ali Reza al-Hami, warned that "if the enemy makes any mistake against Iran, we will humiliate him," and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian added, while visiting Kyrgyzstan with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that "the American side did not fulfill its obligations." Later he claimed: "We continue to try to reach agreement and understanding and believe that the continuation of the war is not in our interest, not in the interest of the region - and not in the interest of humanity. We believe that the solution to the existing problems is dialogue and cooperation. Iran and India can improve economic cooperation by neutralizing the effects of the sanctions."
