Following the Federal Reserve's rate decision, market attention has shifted to a broader question: Do US Treasury yields above 5% reflect a temporary reaction to interest rate expectations, or do they signal a more fundamental shift in how investors price US debt, inflation, and economic growth?

Alongside developments in the foreign exchange market, Bitcoin, and SpaceX, three market experts highlight key themes likely to drive trading in the near future.

Perspectives on US Treasury Yields

Sylvia Jablonski, Chief Investment Officer at Defiance, believes that the rise in yields does not inherently point to a crisis of confidence in US government debt. According to Jablonski, investors are simply demanding a higher premium for holding long-term debt amid persistent inflation, heavy issuance volumes, and a sustained high-interest-rate environment.

"5% in US Treasuries is not a crisis of confidence. Investors simply demand a higher price for holding long-term debt," she stated.

Violeta Todorova, Research Analyst at Leverage Shares, directs attention toward what will happen to bond yields once the market finishes pricing in adjustments to interest rate expectations.

"If the 10-year Treasury yield remains above 5% even after rate pricing stabilizes, the narrative will shift from the Fed to US fiscal credibility," Todorova noted.

Todorova adds that the market must still account for the possibility of another rate hike. While markets are pricing in a potential hike as early as October, she views a December increase as more probable. The primary risk, in her view, is not necessarily another 25-basis-point hike, but a scenario where investors price in a higher terminal rate that remains restrictive for longer.

The Evolving Profile of SpaceX

Paul Marino, Chief Revenue Officer at Themes ETFs, focuses heavily on SpaceX and the ongoing transformation surrounding the company.

"SpaceX is no longer just a space company: Starlink, launches, AI, and computing are turning it into a global infrastructure platform," Marino said.

He points out that Falcon launch operations continue to serve as a significant revenue engine, allowing the company to fund next-generation technologies like Starship. Furthermore, Marino highlights the potential expansion of the stock's float and its eventual entry into major equity indices, which could generate structural demand from passive investors and ETFs.

Regulatory Headwinds in Crypto

Turning to the crypto markets, Marino addresses the recent pullback in Bitcoin following the failure of the CLARITY Act to advance in the US Senate. He characterizes this setback primarily as a regulatory delay rather than a fracture in Bitcoin's long-term investment thesis. While short-term legislative delays may increase volatility, the ongoing development of digital asset infrastructure and institutional ETF adoption remain intact.
