Israel sees a 10% surge in bicycle sales ahead of Yom Kippur, with stores across the country reporting massive last-minute demand and heavy customer traffic.

Sales Surge Across Major Chains

Gadi Mints, owner of the 35-branch Rosen & Mints chain, stated that sales have increased by 10% compared to last year. Despite waiting until the final hours, customers are showing patience as stores experience unprecedented holiday rushes.

"I see a significant increase in sales over the last four days, absolutely crazy. The final day is always the peak, so we expect today to be insane," Mints noted, emphasizing the importance of safety gear like helmets and rear lights.

Focus on Safety and Equipment

Roy Nasimi, VP of Sales and Marketing at Tzomet HaDarim, echoed similar sentiments, noting that crowds are packing bicycle shops to buy new gear or repair existing equipment. Industry leaders highlight a growing awareness of safety standards, with strong demand for certified helmets, gloves, and lighting accessories.

Toy retailers and supermarket chains have also joined the seasonal rush. Major networks like Yochananof and Victory reported selling out of promotional children's bicycles priced between 149 and 199 shekels, while sporting goods giant Decathlon recorded heavy foot traffic across all branches.
