The Trump administration has imposed sweeping sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), potentially cutting it off from banking, insurance, and software services. The move comes amid U.S. outrage over the court's arrest warrants against Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as a previous investigation it conducted into U.S. military forces in Afghanistan.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio labeled the court a "rogue tribunal" and warned that the ICC must either stop its threats or face being dismantled by Washington. He urged U.S. allies to exert pressure on the court to comply with American demands.

The sanctions were announced just hours after former ICC judge Navi Pillay was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in international criminal law.
