A dramatic incident occurred in the Neukölln district of Berlin, where a 34-year-old man saved the life of a six-year-old girl who fell from a third-floor window of a residential building, catching her in mid-air moments before she hit the ground, according to a report by the German newspaper Die Welt.

The incident took place in a building used as a housing complex for homeless individuals in the southern neighborhood of the German capital. The child climbed onto the window sill, dangled outside, and fell from a height of approximately 10 meters. A neighbor living in the same building noticed the danger from the street, quickly positioned himself directly beneath the open window, and aimed his arms to cushion the fall.

"I am just glad I was in the right place at the right time," the citizen recounted in an interview with the RTL television network. Thanks to his quick thinking and rapid response, the girl suffered only minor scrapes on her legs and was evacuated to a hospital for medical observation. Local police praised the neighbor's extraordinary act and bestowed upon him the title "Hero of Neukölln."

The drama did not end with the rescue of the girl. Police officers who entered the apartment immediately after the fall discovered a disturbing scene: two other toddlers, aged two and five, were inside the home without any adult supervision. Officers provided the children with initial care at the scene until social services arrived, according to a report in Blick.

Testimonies from neighbors and passersby indicate that the children's parents went shopping and left the three young children alone in the apartment. The parents returned only during the rescue and emergency response operations. Following the severe findings, the police launched criminal proceedings and an official investigation against the mother on suspicion of violating the duty to supervise minors.
