IDF Chief Honors Unit 8200 Intelligence Officer Who Warned of October 7
IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir honored Warrant Officer V. from Unit 8200, who repeatedly warned military leadership about Hamas's October 7 invasion plans before the massacre.

IDF Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir awarded a certificate of appreciation to Warrant Officer V. from Unit 8200 on Sunday during a ceremony presenting lessons learned from the events of October 7. V. had warned prior to the massacre that Hamas was preparing for a large-scale surprise attack.
Intelligence Warnings Ignored
According to the IDF investigation, V. did everything possible to warn various commanders in Aman and the Southern Command about the potential danger. However, her warnings were dismissed as mere force buildup by Hamas, while she insisted the threat was immediate. In September 2023, just a month before the October 7 massacre, her commander P. also utilized a visit by senior Southern Command officers to sound the alarm regarding Hamas's plans.
"It was important for me to invite Warrant Officer V. here - V. is a clear example of intellectual courage and professionalism," Zamir stated.
The "Jericho Wall" Plan
V. noticed that loud Hamas exercises matched the operational concept she had translated into Hebrew, known as "Jericho Wall." Despite presenting detailed documentation of commando drills and training sessions simulating the takeover of military bases and kibbutzim, intelligence assessments maintained that these were routine drills indicating long-term intentions rather than an imminent threat.
