A week and a half since Katriel disappeared in Tiberias: "He said he had no battery, every detail will advance us"
A week and a half have passed since the last contact with Katriel Nachman Keenan from Beit Shemesh, and his family is calling for public help in the search: "He sent Mom a message that he had no battery and not to worry," his brother told Ynet. "We are in the field, every piece of information can advance us. The power of the public is immense."
"Last Monday he sent Mom a message - and has disappeared since," said Daniel today (Thursday), brother of 24-year-old Katriel Nachman Keenan from Beit Shemesh, who was last seen in the area of Gai Beach on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, on his way to Safed. Katriel's family turned to the police, who have already published a call to the public to help in the search. Since then, the brother told Ynet, the last cellular ping was received in the Tiberias area. The police requested public assistance last weekend.
According to the police description, he is about 1.74 meters tall, has black hair, a black beard, and brown eyes. He was wearing a white shirt and a black suit, a hat, a black backpack, and a dark brown tefillin bag. It was further stated that he wears eyeglasses and a yellow Moshiach flag pin. Anyone who knows anything about his whereabouts or has information that may assist in locating him is asked to contact the police 100 hotline, the Beit Shemesh station at 02-9902384, the missing persons center at 050-899-9884, or the command and family centers: 050-2323201 and 0522770559.
His brother Daniel said today:
"We are in very intense days, making every effort. In the last 24 hours, from analyzing cameras, we know to say that we have advanced. There is documentation of him confirming he entered the tomb of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes - and left from there. Today we are trying to crack this and understand where he went. At the same time, there are other directions being checked. I spoke with him last Sunday, in the evening. He told me he was going to Safed but he did not arrive. According to the pings, we know he arrived in Tiberias. Last Monday he sent our mother a message that he had no battery and not to worry. Since then he has disappeared and there is no contact with him. We are in close cooperation with the police at the Beit Shemesh station, and are in the field both in Tiberias and in Beit Shemesh. Every piece of information can advance us another step in finding him: scanning cameras, foot scanning of areas or abandoned buildings, help from dog handlers and drones, volunteers, friends from all over the country, missing persons search units, and 'Yedidim'. Anyone who can help should come to assist. The power of the public is immense."
The brother asked that "anyone who thinks they saw him - just take a picture and remember the point on Google Maps. Send the data to us, as accurately as possible. There is also no instruction not to approach him, on the contrary. From a conversation with him, one can get more information and try to understand what is with him."
The area between Safed and Meron has previously been dubbed the "Israeli Bermuda Triangle," following a series of unusual disappearance cases in the area over the years. No fewer than ten people have disappeared since the establishment of the state in the space between Safed and Moshav Meron, and among the prominent cases are Haimonut Kasau and Moishy Kleinerman. The police have emphasized in the past that there is no common denominator between the disappearance cases. Alongside this, the characteristics of the area may make the searches difficult - open and forested areas, mountainous terrain conditions, and a relative scarcity of surveillance cameras.
