A window to the Mediterranean: has someone finally been found to clean for us?
There is probably no more burdensome task than cleaning windows at home, and salvation may have arrived: the Dreame C1 Station comes with powerful suction, a portable docking station, and technology that promises to reach even the problematic corners. It can certainly save time and effort, but it is not yet a magic solution.
Window cleaning is one of those household chores that most of us usually prefer to put off. The reason? It requires a long time, moderate physical effort, and especially dealing with places that are not always easy to reach. It is exactly into this slot that the C1 Station from Dreame enters, a new window cleaning robot that tries to make this task autonomous and much easier.
On paper, it is a quite impressive device. It comes with a portable docking station that allows it to be operated even without a direct connection to an electrical outlet, a particularly significant feature for large windows, showcases, or glass surfaces where an electrical cable is more of a nuisance than a help. The device is equipped with a suction power of 5,500Pa and a system that monitors the adhesion strength to the surface in real time.
One of the innovations offered by Dreame is the CornerClean technology, which is designed to deal with one of the weak points of window cleaning robots: the corners. Four flexible brushes allow the robot to get within about 1 mm of the window frame. This does not mean that you can completely say goodbye to the cleaning cloth, but it is definitely an attempt to deal with an area where most devices struggle to reach.
Its working time is also very impressive: a 7,800mAh battery is supposed to allow up to 180 minutes of work, with the company stating coverage of up to about 90 square meters of glass in one cycle.
But here comes the asterisk. A window cleaning robot is not a vacuum cleaner that you can turn on and forget about. It is a device that works on a vertical surface, and therefore attention is required to its location, the surface, and the cleaning process. The fact that it handles corners better also does not completely eliminate the need for manual cleaning in certain places.
And the price, 2,990 shekels, definitely places it in the premium product category. For those who have many glass surfaces, large windows, or difficulty reaching them, this investment is worth every penny. For those who clean a few windows in an apartment once every few months, it is not certain that it is worth the investment.
At the end of the day, the C1 Station does not make window cleaning a task that has disappeared from life, but it definitely brings us closer to it. Its great advantage is not that it cleans instead of the human in every situation, but that it saves a significant part of the annoying work, and that, in the world of smart electrical appliances, is already quite a lot.
