'A terrible experience': Complaints about the famous beach restaurant in Mykonos have returned
The DK Oyster restaurant is once again in the spotlight after tourists who visited it recently describe being charged outrageous prices, feeling like they were being ripped off, and that the general atmosphere was questionable. 'They charge double or even triple what you see on their menu on Google.'
For years, the DK Oyster beach restaurant in Mykonos has been known as a place that rips off tourists in the summer, with high prices and demands for strange charges. In 2022, we reported on a mother and daughter from the USA who were on vacation on the Greek island and were forced to pay an astronomical price. According to them, the restaurant staff threatened them that if they did not pay the bill, they would be arrested: 'You will not return to your homeland. We can easily find out where you live.' In 2024, the place was also in the spotlight.
Now, in the summer of 2026, the complaints about it have returned: 'Do not go here, you will be cheated,' wrote one visitor, who claimed he was charged 50 euros (about 200 shekels) for a single cocktail. Another visitor described the place as unreliable and wrote: 'They ripped us off and then lied to us. They asked to leave a tip in cash for a round of drinks that cost 150 euros (about 600 shekels), even though I left it on credit.' Another review described the experience as simply terrible:
'They didn't show us a menu, the drinks were 50 euros each. Honestly, just terrible, we felt we were cheated.'
Another visitor wrote that the prices are expensive, the experience was terrible and questionable, and added: 'My children were charged higher prices for no reason. People around us were shaking their heads because the atmosphere was so bad.' Another visitor added: 'Very rude staff and unreal prices. They charge double or even triple what you see on their menu on Google. Be prepared to pay 60 euros (about 240 shekels) for a cocktail or 25 euros (about 100 shekels) for a beer.'
All this is happening, according to the report, in a place that also offers luxurious sunbeds and a dramatic view of the sea - but numerous reviews note that the view is not the problem with the place. The establishment, which is located on the sought-after Platis Gialos beach and markets itself as a luxury restaurant and beach club, has more than 2,000 reviews on Tripadvisor with an average score of 2.1 out of 5.
It seems that the phenomenon of excessive prices in beach restaurants in Europe is gaining momentum. Last summer, we reported on tourists who received a bill for 63,000 euros at a luxury restaurant on the beach in Mallorca. The astronomical sum included, among other things, 45,000 euros for a mysterious dish of various fish.
