Cut discovered in fence at Zikim, IDF conducting searches: "No crossing from Gaza detected"

IDF forces are conducting searches in the area of Kibbutz Zikim in the Gaza envelope, after the kibbutz security coordinator reported a cut discovered in the settlement's fence. The IDF Spokesperson stated: "As of now, no suspects have been located in the area, and it is not possible to determine when the cut was made". Forces are continuing the searches to rule out any security incidents. Additionally, surveillance checks were carried out, and as of now, "no crossing" from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory has been detected.
This incident occurs against the backdrop of efforts for a settlement in the Gaza sector, following the "Council for Peace" publication of a "roadmap" for implementing an agreement with Hamas that would lead to the dismantling of the terrorist organization's weapons. Earlier this week, IDF forces operating in Gaza received a new directive: they are permitted to carry out strikes only to remove immediate threats, while targeted killings will be carried out only with the approval of the Chief of Staff and the political echelon.
Yesterday, ynet revealed that the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini, warned ministers last Thursday at the political-security cabinet meeting about this roadmap. According to sources present at the discussion, Zini stated:
"From Hamas's perspective, this roadmap event is a political October 7th, meaning a political victory over Israel."
Zini also referred to Hamas's alleged agreement to disarm as part of the plan:
"It is all a process of deception against us. The entire goal of Hamas is to gain time, believing that this way we will not attack them until after the elections."
