Scholarship in memory of fallen soldier Sergeant Adi Gruman awarded to student reservist

The Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization held a special evening this week that opened with a ceremony awarding a scholarship in memory of soldier Sergeant Adi Gruman, daughter of Anat and Asaf Gruman, who fell in battle on October 7. The scholarship was awarded to a university student serving in the reserves.

Sigalit Ben-Hayun, head of the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization, said at the event:

"The scholarship awarded this evening is in memory of Sergeant Adi Gruman, a combat intelligence soldier in the 414th Battalion who fell in battle on October 7, at the age of 19, and we share in the family's deep grief. The scholarship is for student Avia Yanai, who completed her first year of biology studies at the Faculty of Life Sciences, and who, after October 7, changed her personal plans and volunteered for reserve duty in the 419th Battalion — a mixed light infantry battalion under the Home Front Command."

The scholarship is provided thanks to a donation from the Sano company, where Adi's father, Asaf Gruman, works. This donation is part of a broad initiative by the company, in which ten scholarships were awarded this year to students serving in the reserves, in deep appreciation for their dedication, contribution, and commitment to Israeli society.

In the Israeli reality of recent years, the choice to commemorate Adi's memory by supporting reservists and the future generation carries a particularly deep meaning — a meaning of continuity, mutual responsibility, and hope," said Ben-Hayun.
