Earthquake strikes Egypt, tremors felt in southern Israel
The epicenter of the 5.4 magnitude quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). Many residents in Israel's southern region reported feeling tremors and received alerts on their mobile phones.
The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported on Monday that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 struck a maritime area near Egypt, with the epicenter occurring at a depth of 10 kilometers.
As a result, the earthquake was also felt in Israel, as many residents in the southern region reported feeling tremors and received alerts on their mobile phones regarding the event.
Shortly thereafter, the Red Crescent in Egypt announced that, as of now, no reports of casualties or property damage have been received following the seismic activity.
Earlier this year, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 was recorded in the Dead Sea area. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the epicenter of that quake was at a depth of 10 km, approximately 19 km northeast of Dimona.
