The State Attorney's Office will file an indictment against a 16-year-old teenager suspected of assaulting a Palestinian woman and abusing an animal in the southern Hebron Hills.

Last Wednesday, July 29, the teenager was arrested in Sde Boker on suspicion of assaulting an elderly Palestinian woman who was holding her son, and of abusing a dog. The Southern District Attorney's Office announced that it expects to file the indictment in the coming days.

According to the investigation, the 16-year-old resident of Beitar Illit arrived in late May at the Masafer Yatta area in the southern Hebron Hills, where he caused property damage and knocked an elderly woman to the ground while she was holding her son. Later, he was documented hitting a dog forcefully with a plastic pipe.

The suspect was located and arrested after having been on the run for about two months in the Sde Boker area with his family. As part of the investigation, his parents were also questioned under caution on suspicion of obstructing the investigation and were released under restrictive conditions.

On Monday, the police filed a prosecutor's statement to the court and requested to extend the minor's detention for the purpose of filing the indictment.
