iPhone 16 Pro Max found in the Sea of Galilee after two weeks underwater remains functional
Noa Daniel Keenan accidentally dropped her iPhone 16 Pro Max into the Sea of Galilee during a boat trip. After failing to locate it, she replaced the device, only for it to be found by bathers two weeks later. Thanks to a social media post, the phone was returned to her in working condition.
Following the case of the former Military Advocate General's iPhone, earlier this month a viral video of Liel Farhat from Daliyat al-Karmel surfaced, showing her iPhone falling into the water, continuing to record, and being retrieved in perfect working condition. It turns out these are not isolated incidents.
Noa Daniel Keenan from Holon, a married mother of two, was on her brother's boat when he threw her into the water, and her iPhone 16 Pro Max went in with her. After the phone sank, those present began a search.
"We tried diving to find it," says Keenan. "People nearby joined the search, and at one point, someone used a mask. People came out to help us, even children. We were there for over an hour, but we couldn't find it. I was really upset."
Eventually, Keenan gave up and went home. She purchased a new phone and moved on, at least until two weeks later. On Saturday night, around 10:00 PM, she received a message from a woman whose daughter used to attend kindergarten with Keenan’s daughter. The woman had come across a post in the Facebook group "Need something?" which simply read: "We found a phone. Does anyone know the children in the picture?"
"She sent me a screenshot of the post featuring a picture of my children's screensaver from when they were younger," Keenan recalls. "She messaged me, 'Tell me, isn't that Niv and Ziv?' I told her, 'Yes,' and she asked, 'Who is the idiot who lost the phone?' So I replied, 'I am the idiot.'"
It turned out that the device was found by bathers who had stopped in the open water near the site of the incident. Their children were divers, which allowed them to locate the device. Following the connection made via Facebook, the phone was returned to Keenan. To her complete surprise, the device is fully functional:
"Except for the fact that the back turned black, the phone functions. Everything works. It's delusional; I was in shock that it worked."
Keenan noted that she had seen Farhat's viral video, and many people tagged her in that post. "For her, it was in the water for 11 minutes; for me, it was two weeks," she says.
