A Space for Healing: Therapeutic Farm for Children with PTSD to Open in Sderot
A therapeutic farm will be established in Sderot to support children coping with post-traumatic stress disorder. The municipality, in collaboration with donors, is investing 16 million shekels into a facility that combines therapy, education, and community resilience programs.

A therapeutic farm is set to be established in Sderot to support children coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The Sderot Municipality, in collaboration with various companies and donors, will invest approximately 16 million shekels in the project, which aims to combine therapy, leisure, education, and the strengthening of personal and community resilience.
The farm will provide a comprehensive range of professional services, with a primary focus on children and teenagers. It will utilize advanced therapeutic tools, including equine-assisted therapy, to improve mental well-being, self-confidence, and the ability to cope with life's challenges.
"In a reality where the residents of Sderot have been dealing for years with prolonged emergency situations and their effects, the farm is expected to serve as a significant hub for strengthening the mental and physical resilience of the participants, while creating a safe, inclusive, and healing environment," said officials from the Sderot Municipality.
The project includes the construction of a new, advanced complex. The organization Samaritan's Purse will provide 11 million shekels in funding as part of a collaboration to promote community development in Sderot.
The facility will integrate therapeutic infrastructure, training areas, and spaces specifically adapted for families. This will allow for the operation of therapeutic, educational, and community programs throughout the year.
The inauguration of the farm is scheduled for October 15, 2026. The municipality expects this to be one of the most significant resilience projects established in the city in recent years—a place where residents can find a space for calm, growth, and hope for the future.
