"A racist club will not play in our city": The protest awaiting Beitar in Vienna
Beitar will try to complete a comeback against Austria Vienna and advance to the Conference League playoffs, but before the match, a protest shift by "Ultras Antifa" awaits them, calling to "stop the racist match."
After the 2:1 loss in the "home" match in Romania, Beitar Jerusalem will be hosted tomorrow (Thursday, 21:30) by Austria Vienna in the third qualifying round of the Conference League, in an attempt to complete a comeback and secure a ticket to the playoff stage. But even before that, a hostile reception awaits the players of Almog Cohen.
On the "Antifa Ultras" page on the X network, a message was published this week regarding the expected arrival of the Israeli team, and they issued a call to prevent the match from taking place:
"We will not allow the most racist club in Israel to play in our city without there being a reaction to it. Stop the racist match."
It was further noted that "the protest is a response to the racist and far-right fan culture associated with Beitar Jerusalem, which has been a controversial subject over the years."
Also at Hapoel Tel Aviv, they are preparing for a "special" reception ahead of the match tonight (19:00) against Katowice in Poland, but from the other side of the political map. As revealed on ynet, there is peak tension behind the scenes, which led to the involvement of the Israeli National Security Council and special preparations alongside international and local security organizations, for fear of friction with one of the most violent fan bases in Europe. The match is defined as high-risk, and therefore an increased covert and overt security array has been created, also around the team itself. Katowice Ultras are a fascist, antisemitic organization, also known for criminal activity and identified with the far-right in the country. Its members have already threatened to attack Israelis in the city, and in recent days have uploaded posts that included Nazi symbols.
