September 2025 will be remembered as one of the most dramatic moments in the long career of Gidi Gov, one of the greatest artists in Israeli culture. Moments after finishing a performance of the show 'The Sixteenth Sheep' and consuming alcohol, the singer got behind the wheel on the Ayalon Highway, swerved from his lane, and confused the gas pedal with the brake. The incident resulted in a serious chain-reaction accident involving eight vehicles and six people sustaining light injuries. Gov did not attempt to evade responsibility, admitted during his interrogation to driving under the influence, and accepted full accountability for his actions.

The initial legal proceedings concluded at the Traffic Court in Tel Aviv as part of a plea bargain. The court sentenced the artist to a fine of 3,000 shekels, a two-year revocation of his driver's license, and suspended sentences for both license revocation and imprisonment. However, nearly a year later, it has become clear that the peripheral economic consequences of the event extend well beyond the initial traffic court ruling.

The civil front is now reaching a resolution; as part of a settlement agreement reached in the Traffic and Small Claims Court in Ramle, it was determined that the insurance company 'The Phoenix' will compensate A., a young man injured in the accident and the son of attorney Yoni Giorno, in the amount of approximately 30,000 shekels. This settlement marks a significant step in closing the financial accounts related to the accident, adding to the personal and public price Gov has already paid.

The event shocked the Israeli public, which has followed Gov for over five decades. From his beginnings in the Nahal Band, through his membership in iconic groups such as 'Kaveret', 'Gazoz', and 'Duda', to a rich solo career and television appearances like 'Zehu Ze!' and 'Laila Gov', Gov is considered a national consensus figure, which explains the intense public interest surrounding this legal affair.
