Record 52,000 Worshippers Arrive in Uman for Rosh Hashanah Amid Security Measures
A record 52,000 pilgrims arrived in Uman, Ukraine, for Rosh Hashanah, alongside Israeli police forces aiding local security amid nightly sirens and curfews.
An estimated 52,000 people arrived in Uman, Ukraine, ahead of Rosh Hashanah, marking an all-time record number of visitors to the city, according to data obtained by Israel Hayom.
During the holiday, 17 officers from the Israel Police are operating in Uman under the leadership of delegation commander Supt. Dmitry Semush, alongside local law enforcement. This joint operational activity was launched at the request of the Ukrainian police to help maintain public order and security.
Alongside the arrival of tens of thousands of worshippers, the security situation in the region remains tense. According to reports from the field, air raid sirens sound in the city every night, accompanied by a nightly curfew from midnight until 4:00 AM.
Israeli and Ukrainian police continue their joint operations throughout Rosh Hashanah to ensure the safe observance of the holiday and protect the thousands of pilgrims in the city.
