High-Risk Sex Offender Arrested in Southern Israel Over Illicit Minor Footage
A high-risk sex offender in southern Israel was arrested after officers found hidden hard drives containing severe illicit material involving minors during a routine supervision check.
A high-risk sex offender residing in the south of the country was arrested yesterday after authorities discovered dozens of images and videos containing severe contraband, including sexual depictions of minors, the Israel Prison Service reported.
The arrest followed an operational activity conducted by the southern team of the "Tzur" unit under the IPS Alternatives to Imprisonment and Supervision Directorate. During a search of the offender's residence, unit officers located two hard drives concealed inside a wardrobe and seized them for inspection.
The drives were subsequently examined by the unit's cyber officer. According to the IPS, a thorough examination revealed dozens of pictures and videos containing severe illicit material, including sexual footage of minors. Possessing these materials violated the restrictions imposed on the individual under his supervision order. Following the findings, the offender was arrested and transferred for further investigation at the Ashkelon police station.
In April 2024, another high-risk sex offender was arrested after "Tzur" unit officers documented him picking up a 15-year-old boy in his car. According to reports, the 53-year-old suspect allegedly rented a luxury vehicle to attract minors' attention. Unit officers intercepted the vehicle, called the police, and he was arrested on suspicion of contacting minors.
