Indictment Filed Against Rabbi and Activist for Incitement to Racism

The Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court against Rabbi Meir David Shmueli, 30, and Galit Dorit Kashi, 56, from Sde David, charging them with incitement to racism following remarks made during the war.

The Incriminating Sermon

The central incident occurred on December 24, 2023, amidst the Iron Swords war. According to the indictment filed by Adv. Ariel Iluz, Shmueli delivered a lecture at the Moussayov Synagogue in Jerusalem, which was recorded and uploaded to the synagogue's website. In his remarks, Shmueli claimed that Arab doctors, pharmacists, and medical staff in Israeli hospitals deliberately harm Jewish soldiers and patients.

Shmueli further warned his audience against receiving medical treatment or medications from Arab professionals, labeling them as dangerous enemies.

YouTube Publication and Charges

Shortly after the sermon, Kashi uploaded an edited video of the lecture to her YouTube channel, which had approximately 12,000 subscribers. Titled "We do not employ enemies - period!", the video featured slides questioning the employment of Arab citizens in health funds and pharmacies. The prosecution argues that both defendants acted with the intent to incite racism.

The Tag Meir organization welcomed the indictment while criticizing the long delay in the legal proceedings and the decision not to charge Shmueli with incitement to violence, emphasizing the severity of spreading false allegations against Arab medical workers during wartime.
