British Labour MP Tahir Ali Suggests Military Action Against Israel in Parliament
British Labour MP Tahir Ali suggested during a parliamentary debate that military action might be needed against Israel, drawing strong criticism and rejection.
British Member of Parliament Tahir Ali, representing Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley for the Labour Party, questioned during a parliamentary debate on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict whether it is not time to take military action against Israel. Ali made the remarks in response to Liberal Democrat MP Richard Foord, who stated that the dismantling of Hamas must be part of any long-term solution to the conflict.
Ali countered by asking whether calls should also be made to disarm Israel in light of alleged atrocities, and suggested regarding military action that previous governments intervened in the Middle East to address human rights violations and protect international trade routes. Foord rejected Ali's comparison between Hamas and Israel.
According to the Jewish Chronicle, Ali is not alone in his sharp criticism. Another Labour MP, Imran Hussain, called on the British government to end all remaining arms sales to Israel and close the F-35 loophole, citing concerns over military supplies and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
