US Vice President JD Vance stated in an interview with the New York Post that the first phase of the war with Iran has concluded, predicting that in about two months the campaign will enter a very different phase.
Vance explained that the campaign consists of two stages, asserting that the first has already been completed: to dismantle the nuclear program, destroy their conventional military, and eliminate their capacity to project power. He emphasized that the second stage aims to ensure Iran cannot rebuild its capabilities while maintaining global stability.
Addressing public frustration in the United States over the prolonged conflict, Vance noted that he understands the impatience among the American public, adding that current forces are not engaged in offensive operations as Iranian attacks on commercial vessels mostly fail.
In the interview conducted aboard his plane, Vance estimated that Iran's grip on the Strait of Hormuz will continue to weaken until the elections, noting that commercial vessel traffic through the strait has already rebounded significantly.
