Erdogan's Operative in Israel: Uncovering Turkish Subversion and Weapons
Investigations reveal covert Turkish subversion in Israel, including the accreditation of a former terror-linked Anadolu journalist and weapons smuggled from Istanbul.
Turkish Infiltration: Erdogan's Operatives and Weapons in Israel
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan does not hide his hostility toward Israel or his intent to act against it. Recent investigations reveal two concerning cases of covert Turkish subversion operating within Israel, largely slipping under the mainstream media radar.
The first case involves Faruk Handar, the correspondent for Turkey's official Anadolu Agency in Israel. Handar reported from Jerusalem and other locations across the country during the war, visiting Ashdod multiple times to cover Turkish flotilla activities.
Handar possesses a troubling background. Shortly before joining Anadolu, he worked as a journalist for the publication of the IBAD terrorist organization, which claimed responsibility for the 2003 synagogue bombings in Istanbul that left dozens dead.
"The meeting between the Anadolu correspondent and the Taliban spokesman was coordinated by Iranian intelligence," according to a research study by the Middle East Forum.
Weapons Smuggling and Istanbul-Made Firearms
Another striking example of activities originating from Turkey involves arms trafficking. In February, the Israel Police seized several weapons from two brothers, arms dealers from East Jerusalem, intended for criminal elements and terror organizations.
According to police, three of the seized weapons were blank-firing guns converted by criminals into live-fire handguns. Photographs published by police clearly show the inscription "Made by Retay" on the firearms, referencing an arms manufacturing company located in Istanbul, Turkey.
These incidents demonstrate how Turkish influence infiltrates Israel through both media and weaponry, bypassing immediate state interception.
