IDF launches extensive operation in Kalandia to thwart terror

The IDF began a prolonged operation today, Wednesday, in the Kalandia camp, located near Jerusalem. The operation is taking place against the backdrop of rising terror threats and follows intelligence information regarding a significant terrorist organization operating within the camp.

Accordingly, the IDF distributed leaflets to residents of the Kalandia refugee camp:

"As you can see, there is no shelter for terror. IDF forces have begun an extensive operation in the area against terrorists; we will use all means in every place and at any time to thwart any attempt to carry out terror attacks. Any attempt to harm Israeli citizens or Israeli security forces exposes the perpetrators to live fire and arrest."

Earlier this week, it was reported that the political echelon had approved a series of significant offensive activities in several areas of Judea and Samaria to thwart terror. The decision reflects the understanding that the Judea and Samaria front has become particularly explosive.

The security establishment has been preparing to expand offensive activity ahead of the holiday period. There is a consensus that it is necessary to move from a defensive posture to an initiative-based approach.

"We will not go on the defensive because the Arabs want to carry out attacks against us; we will initiate, we will attack, we will thwart," a security source told News 14.

Since the beginning of the war, the Judea and Samaria arena had been placed at the bottom of the priority list. Now, there are growing demands to allocate more resources and capabilities to this front to ensure the security of the residents.
