Following the report that the political echelon approved a series of significant offensive activities in several areas of Judea and Samaria, the IDF and Shin Bet announced that forces began an operation on Wednesday night to counter terrorism, enforce the law, and arrest and interrogate wanted persons in the Kalandia area, under the jurisdiction of the Binyamin Brigade. Forces continue to operate at this hour in the Kalandia camp near Ramallah and in the village of Kafr Aqab in Jerusalem.

According to the announcement, the operation is intended to damage the organizational capabilities of terrorist groups in the area, expand the security forces' freedom of action following numerous displays of violence during recent entries, and increase security in the sector.

As part of the operation, the IDF distributed leaflets to residents of the Kalandia camp:

"As you can see, there is no shelter for terror. IDF forces have begun an extensive operation in the area against terrorists. We will use all means in any place and at any time to thwart any attempt to carry out terrorist acts. Any attempt to harm Israeli citizens or security forces exposes the perpetrators to live fire and arrest."
