IDF uncovers and destroys Hezbollah weapon caches in southern Lebanon security zone
Brigade combat teams 769, 4, and 55, operating under the 91st Division, are clearing southern Lebanon of terrorist infrastructure. During the operations, forces located large quantities of anti-tank missiles, RPGs, and other weaponry hidden within civilian areas.
Anti-tank guided missiles, rocket launchers, grenades, explosive devices, Kalashnikov-type weapons, tactical vests, uniforms, and helmets were located in the security zone in southern Lebanon, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit reported on Tuesday.
Brigade combat teams 769, 4, and 55 are operating under the command of the 91st Division to clear the area of terrorist infrastructure and destroy weaponry. Alongside the destruction of Hezbollah infrastructure embedded within civilian sites, the teams recovered significant amounts of weaponry.
"The IDF will not allow Hezbollah to harm the citizens of the State of Israel and its forces, and will continue to act to remove threats and remain committed to the ceasefire agreement," the statement read.
Last week, Israel informed the United States through security channels that the pilot program in southern Lebanon had failed. Israel expressed dissatisfaction with the Lebanese Army's lack of action against Hezbollah infrastructure. According to security sources, the Lebanese Army is failing to destroy terrorist sites based on coordinates provided by the IDF, while simultaneously requesting further data without taking action.
The IDF continues to criticize the Lebanese Army's performance, asserting it is ineffective against Hezbollah in the south. Analysts suggest that Iran, which historically provided significant backing to the organization, is currently preoccupied with its own survival and is not rushing to provide aid.
Senior IDF officials assess that the Chief of Staff of the Lebanese Army, Rudolph Haykal, continues to cooperate with Hezbollah, fearing confrontation with the Shiite organization's commanders, rendering him ineffective in search operations and the dismantling of terrorist infrastructure.
