Reports Claim IDF Establishing New Observation Base in Southern Syria
Syrian media report that the IDF is transferring advanced military equipment to Jabal al-Druze in southern Syria to establish a new intelligence and surveillance base. The claims remain unverified by official sources.

IDF Deploys Military Equipment to Jabal al-Druze
According to the Syrian news website "Syria 360", the IDF has begun transferring advanced military equipment to the summit of Jabal al-Druze in the As-Suwayda governorate of southern Syria. The reports, citing local sources, suggest preparations for establishing a new Israeli military base.
The site is reportedly intended for intelligence gathering, surveillance, and early warning systems. Local sources claimed that dozens of military helicopters transported large quantities of weaponry and advanced devices to the area over a 72-hour period leading up to October 17.
Intelligence and Strategic Significance
Jabal al-Druze, also known as Jabal al-Arab, rises approximately 1,803 meters above sea level in a predominantly Druze-populated region. Establishing an observation facility at this elevation would provide extensive surveillance capabilities over southern Syria.
"The facility is designed for intelligence collection, reconnaissance, and early warning operations," reported the local source cited by Syria 360.
Ongoing Operations in Southern Syria
This report follows continued Israeli military activity in southern Syria, primarily across the Quneitra, Daraa, and rural Damascus governorates. According to UN Human Rights data cited by the outlet, approximately 280 incursions by Israeli forces into Syrian territory were documented in September.
Despite widespread coverage in Arabic and Turkish media, no official confirmation or photographic evidence has been provided by Israeli authorities to verify the construction of the base.
