IDF confirms elimination of senior Hamas operative who held hostages
Muhammad Mushtaha, a company commander in the Shati Battalion, died of wounds sustained in an IDF airstrike. The terrorist was involved in the October 7th massacre and held hostages in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF Spokesperson announced this morning the elimination of a Hamas company commander who held numerous hostages in captivity. The terrorist, Muhammad Mushtaha, participated in the October 7th massacre.
Mushtaha, a company commander in the Shati Battalion, was severely wounded in an IDF airstrike on a hideout apartment in Gaza on July 30 and died of his wounds a few days later. According to the IDF, he was involved in holding hostages, including the late Tzachi Idan, the late Corporal Noa Marciano, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Ori Magidish, Naama Levy, and Matan Angrest.
"The terrorist recently attempted to promote terror plots against IDF forces and citizens of the State of Israel and was eliminated to remove the threat. IDF forces under the Southern Command will continue to act to neutralize any immediate danger," the military stated.
Meanwhile, US Special Envoy Jared Kushner and Gaza Peace Council Director-General Nickolay Mladenov are planning to visit Israel to discuss US President Donald Trump's 15-point plan for Gaza with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu has reiterated that Israel rejects the 15-point document and will not withdraw troops until Hamas is disarmed.
Despite claims regarding a ceasefire, Israeli strikes in Gaza have continued for the third consecutive day. In Khan Yunis, the IDF eliminated another Hamas company commander, while in Gaza City, a strike resulted in the death of District Police Chief Jamal Abu Kamil.
During a security briefing, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated:
"The open-fire regulations in Gaza have not changed and will not change. IDF soldiers have our full backing to neutralize any threat to them and our citizens. This is the policy, and it is being implemented on the ground."
