Nearly one million Americans who purchased President Donald Trump's TRUMP token lost approximately $3.81 billion, according to data from blockchain analytics firm Nansen. Meanwhile, Donald Trump himself secured $635 million in profits from the token, a figure disclosed in his annual financial filing.

"Over a million people lost money on Trump's crypto scam," Ross Gerber, CEO of an American investment management firm, posted on X.

Market Capitalization Collapse

Launched three days before Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2025, the token reached a market capitalization of nearly $15 billion before crashing 97% to $408 million. According to blockchain data, approximately 988,905 wallets holding the token are currently in a loss position.

In contrast, fewer than 500,000 wallets generated a total profit of about $4 billion, mostly consisting of early buyers who entered within the first hours of launch. The Nansen report states:

"The group that profited from the Trump token reflects a small number of early buyers who captured massive profits while the majority of the retail crowd absorbed the losses."

Crypto Revenue Disclosures

Donald Trump, once an outspoken Bitcoin skeptic, has turned his crypto ventures into one of his primary sources of income. A 927-page financial disclosure submitted to the US Office of Government Ethics revealed that his crypto-related revenues reached $1.4 billion in 2025 alone.

A significant portion of this includes $799 million from his family's investment management firm, which holds substantial crypto assets. Senator Elizabeth Warren demanded stronger legislation to prevent Donald Trump and his family from profiting from cryptocurrency.

Anthony Scaramucci, founder of Skybridge Capital, commented that crypto profits during a bear market would serve as key evidence against the sitting president. Donald Trump defended his earnings:

"There is nothing illegal or wrong with this. Crypto is a big business, and the US must lead in this field."
