Trump to reporters: Tehran will not achieve nuclear power, Schumer has become a Palestinian

US President Donald Trump delivered a speech filled with barbs last night at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington. The President used the platform to send a political message to Tehran against the backdrop of contacts for a deal, and to sharply attack Senator Chuck Schumer ahead of the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week.

Trump addressed the contacts his administration is conducting with Tehran and clarified that talks are underway in an attempt to reach a deal. The President noted that the Iranians are interested in an agreement, but assessed that the time for it has not yet ripened. He emphasized that the United States will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons in order to prevent the danger of destruction from Washington, American cities, Israel, and the entire Middle East. In an unusual statement, the President claimed that the previous regime in Iran was toppled and its leaders ousted, and today the country is managed by a homosexual dictator who is dealing with internal divisions.

Ahead of the expected visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington next week, the President attacked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Trump called Schumer a crybaby and accused him of faking tears in the past on the issue of immigration. According to him, the senator, who was once a staunch supporter of Israel, has become a "proud Palestinian" who is afraid of violating Sharia law. Trump added sarcastically that he would send Schumer Palestinian attire so he could welcome Netanyahu.

The event itself saw moments of tension with the media. The Wall Street Journal newspaper won an award during the evening for exposing the ties between Trump and Jeffrey Epstein. The newspaper's journalists, who following the investigation were barred from the President's plane and some of whom were even forced to change their place of residence, shook Trump's hand. The President responded with a smile and dismissed the matter, saying it does not matter. In his speech, Trump complained about the media's attitude toward him, noted that he receives negative coverage at a rate of 93%, and wondered how he won the election by a large margin with such data. He called those present in the hall the largest concentration of people suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome," and joked that some journalists arrived at the event wearing bulletproof vests.

Trump dedicated part of his speech to the Minister of Health in his administration, Robert Kennedy Jr., and joked about his habits. He told those present that Kennedy ran over a cow, butchered it, and brought the meat to dinner. The President added that the Minister of Health suggested serving roadkill raccoon meat as a first course, but the proposal was rejected. Trump concluded his remarks about Kennedy by saying that he is an extraordinary and somewhat strange man. At the end of his remarks, the President announced that he intends to participate in the correspondents' dinner next year as well, provided they are not cruel to him.
