Trump Conditions Israeli Withdrawal from Lebanon on Abraham Accords
US President Donald Trump has reportedly pledged a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon if Beirut joins the Abraham Accords, according to Gulf diplomatic sources.

US President Donald Trump has reportedly pledged to ensure a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon on the condition that Beirut joins the Abraham Accords framework, according to a senior Gulf diplomatic source cited by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Diyar.
The report, published by Nour Naama, outlines the diplomatic maneuvers amid rising regional tensions. However, the publication did not provide official documents, identify the diplomat or the country he represents, or secure confirmation from the White House regarding the alleged commitments.
Senior Israeli officials firmly rejected any withdrawal without prior disarmament, stating that any IDF redeployment depends strictly on dismantling Hezbollah across Lebanese territory. At the same time, Israel signaled openness to a future peace treaty once security threats are neutralized, emphasizing that regional stability remains a primary objective.
According to the report, progress heavily depends on broader strategic understandings between Washington and Tehran. Meanwhile, Iranian leadership has reportedly advised Hezbollah against entering a new conflict, aiming to prevent a wider escalation across the volatile Lebanese arena.
Lebanese leaders have also voiced support for a diplomatic track. President Joseph Aoun emphasized the importance of international peacekeepers in the south, while Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed the necessity of extending state authority throughout the country. Meanwhile, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem defended the group's armed status while expressing interest in a broader US-Iran dialogue.
