Tragedy in Finland: Israeli cyclist killed in road accident
A 66-year-old Israeli man, who went on a solo bike trip in Finland, was found dead on the side of the road a week after losing contact with his family. ZAKA and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs are working to repatriate his body for burial.
A 66-year-old Israeli citizen who went on a solo bike trip in Finland was found lifeless on the side of the road on Sunday, about a week after his family members lost contact with him. Following the family's report, local authorities launched a search, which led to the discovery of his body.
According to initial assessments by local police, the Israeli was struck by a passing vehicle while riding. Upon receiving the notification, the international unit of ZAKA began working in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the victim's family, and local authorities to arrange the necessary procedures for repatriating his body to Israel.
Haim Weingarten, Deputy Director of Operations at ZAKA, stated:
"From the moment the report was received, we have been accompanying the family members and working with the authorities in Finland to arrange the necessary procedures. We will do everything possible to bring the deceased for burial in Israel as soon as possible and with the proper respect."
