Suspects arrested after shooting at electricity pole and threatening workers
Two suspects from Tel Sheva, aged 20 and 30, were arrested after shooting at an electricity pole and threatening Israel Electric Corporation employees who arrived to restore power. The Ayarot station commander stated that damaging public infrastructure is crossing a red line.
A report of gunfire at an electricity pole in the town of Tel Sheva was received by the Israel Police on Wednesday. Shortly thereafter, employees of the Israel Electric Corporation arrived at the scene to repair the damage. As they began their work to restore power to the residents, the suspects who had fired at the pole threatened them and demanded they leave the site. The employees were forced to stop their work and vacate the area due to the threats.
The police launched an investigation, and within a few hours, officers from the Ayarot station, in cooperation with the Tel Sheva municipal policing unit, the Sahar unit, and Border Police fighters, arrested two suspects in their 20s and 30s. The suspects were transferred to the Ayarot station for further questioning, and the investigation is ongoing.
The commander of the Ayarot station, Superintendent Yahav Siman, addressed the incident:
"Damaging public infrastructure and threatening public servants performing their duties is crossing a red line."
Siman added that the police will act quickly and decisively against anyone attempting to intimidate workers, disrupt essential services, or harm public safety.
Earlier this week, the Southern District Attorney's Office filed an indictment in the Be'er Sheva District Court against Raam Al-Uka (27), Sami Al-Uka (30), and Khaled Al-Uka (18), residents of Ar'ara in the Negev, for a series of weapons and violence offenses committed during an ongoing family feud.
According to the indictment, during a pursuit, Raam Al-Uka fired at another vehicle from his car window. Later, upon reaching an area they believed was blocked, he continued to fire at fleeing individuals. The vehicle then drove toward a police patrol, and Raam allegedly aimed his pistol at an officer. In response, the officer fired at the vehicle until it came to a stop.
While the three defendants were arrested, the incident escalated with gunfire and stone-throwing at police from multiple directions. Order was restored only after additional forces arrived. During subsequent searches, a pistol, two magazines, and ammunition were seized.
