Attempted to run over police officers and flee: two brothers arrested on suspicion of transporting illegal aliens

Two brothers from Ashdod were arrested on suspicion of transporting and employing illegal aliens, after a pursuit of one of them ended in an arrest in the Southern District. According to the police, the suspect attempted to run over a police officer during the check, and three illegal aliens were arrested as part of the operation.

Following a cross-district pursuit, police officers from the Modiin station in the Central District arrested two brothers, residents of Ashdod, on Monday on suspicion of transporting and employing illegal aliens. During the operation, one of the suspects attempted to run over a police officer and fled, until he was arrested in the Southern District.

In a statement from the police spokesperson, it was noted:

"During routine activity by police officers from the Modiin station in the Central District, suspicion arose regarding a vehicle transporting illegal aliens."

The patrol officer approached the vehicle, identified himself, and during the check, two illegal aliens were located inside. After the two were removed from the vehicle, the driver began driving, attempted to hit the officer, and fled the scene. In response, the officer fired at the vehicle's tires, but the driver continued his escape towards the south.

Using technological means, the vehicle was located as it entered the city of Ashdod. Following searches and a pursuit by detectives from the Modiin station, with the assistance of the surveillance team from the Ashdod station, the suspect was located in his vehicle near his brother's house in the city and arrested. During a search of his brother's home, another illegal alien was found, who was suspected of being employed at a renovation site in the area by the suspect's brother.

At the end of the operation, the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of transporting illegal aliens, attempting to run over a police officer, and fleeing; his brother was arrested on suspicion of employing an illegal alien; and three illegal aliens were also arrested. The suspect's vehicle was seized and transferred to the police station for further investigation.

In accordance with the needs of the investigation, the suspects will be brought to court for a hearing on the request to extend their detention.
