Dangerous TikTok Weight Loss Trend: 'Magic Honey' Poses Health Risks

The Israel Ministry of Health is warning the public against purchasing and consuming a product known as 'Magic Honey,' also marketed under the name 'Honey for Weight Loss.' This alert follows laboratory tests that confirmed the presence of sibutramine, an active pharmaceutical ingredient, in the product. The item has gained traction on TikTok, where influencers promote it as a 'pink gel concentrate' that promises effortless and rapid weight loss.

Sibutramine is a substance prohibited for marketing in Israel and many other countries due to the significant health risks associated with its use. There are currently no registered preparations in Israel that contain this substance.

The Ministry of Health warns that consuming products containing sibutramine without medical supervision exposes users to unknown dosages and severe side effects:

«Consumption may lead to increased blood pressure, rapid heart rate, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, heart attacks, strokes, and psychiatric disorders.»

It has been reported that, in the past, cases of hospitalization occurred in Israel following the use of counterfeit products containing this substance.

The Ministry urges the public to purchase medicines, nutritional supplements, and health products only from authorized retailers, such as pharmacies and drugstore chains, and to avoid buying such items via social media, messaging groups, or unrecognized websites.

Individuals interested in weight loss or nutritional supplements are advised to consult with a licensed nutritionist, engage in regular physical activity, and maintain a healthy diet.
