Tel Aviv resident arrested for burglary in building damaged during war
A 60-year-old Tel Aviv resident is suspected of stealing property from an evacuated apartment in a damaged building. Investigators also linked him to a separate burglary at a nearby restaurant earlier that day.
Police officers from the Lev Tel Aviv station in the Yarkon district have arrested a local resident in the act on suspicion of breaking into an evacuated apartment within a building damaged during Operation "Lion's Roar." Property suspected to be stolen from the residence was found in his possession.
On Wednesday, during proactive patrols targeting property offenders in central Tel Aviv, officers spotted the suspect leaving a site that had been struck by Iranian missile fire during the recent campaign. He was carrying a large quantity of items. Upon inspection, it was determined that the 60-year-old suspect had broken into an apartment that had been vacated due to structural damage. A search of his person revealed alcohol bottles, various household items, and work tools belonging to contractors at the site.
During interrogation, it emerged that the suspect had also broken into a nearby restaurant earlier that day by forcing the lock, stealing alcohol worth thousands of shekels. Following his interrogation, the suspect was detained. He is scheduled to appear in court today for a hearing regarding the extension of his remand.
