Tel Aviv: Man Arrested After Firing Shots in Air and Hiding in Dorms
Israel Police arrested a Kiryat Motzkin resident on Friday for allegedly firing into the air on Einstein Street in Tel Aviv and hiding in a student dorm.
Israel Police arrested a resident of Kiryat Motzkin on Friday night on suspicion of firing shots into the air on Einstein Street in Tel Aviv. The suspect fled the scene and hid in a nearby student dormitory complex, where he was located armed with a legally licensed handgun. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The incident began in the evening when the suspect stood on Einstein Street and allegedly fired into the air. Immediately afterward, he left the location and entered the student housing complex, despite having no connection to the university.
Police forces summoned to the scene following reports of gunfire launched searches and located him inside the residential compound. The weapon used in the shooting was seized in his possession.
The suspect was transferred for interrogation at the Tel Aviv North police station. An initial investigation reveals he has no criminal record, and investigators are examining, among other things, whether he was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Simultaneously, police are continuing to collect testimonies and investigate the circumstances leading to the shooting.
