A violent criminal dispute in Tayibe resulted in a fatal shooting on Tuesday afternoon, coinciding with the elections for the 26th Knesset. The incident brings the death toll in the Arab community to 174 since the beginning of 2026, compared to 199 during the same period in 2025.

According to preliminary suspicions, the victim and another individual were targeted by gunfire while together. The shooting left one person critically injured and another with mild-to-moderate injuries.

MDA (Magen David Adom) medical teams rushed to the scene, providing immediate medical treatment before evacuating both casualties to Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba. Despite medical efforts, doctors were forced to pronounce the critically wounded victim dead shortly after arrival.

Police forces from the Tayibe station deployed to the crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting, which is believed to be rooted in a criminal underworld feud. Investigators gathered forensic evidence, searched for security cameras that may have captured the attack, and initiated extensive sweeps to track down the suspects.

Central District Commander, Superintendent Amir Cohen, arrived at the scene during the election day developments. Following a situational assessment on the ground, he transferred the investigation to the Central District's Yamar (Central Unit) to lead the manhunt and solve the case.

Updated figures indicate that 174 members of the Arab community have been killed in violent incidents since the start of the year, reflecting a decrease of 25 fatalities compared to the 199 recorded in the corresponding period last year.
