Petah Tikva Resident Suspected of Concealing 4.5 Million Shekels in Taxes
A 48-year-old Petah Tikva resident managing a Ramat Gan vegetable market was brought to court on suspicion of concealing 4.5 million shekels in business income.

The Tax Authority continues its decisive fight against black capital and tax evasion in local businesses: Lior Ezra, a 48-year-old resident of Petah Tikva who manages a well-known fruit and vegetable business named "Ramat Gan Market", was brought before the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court on suspicion of committing severe tax offenses. According to the suspicions of investigators from the Central Assessing Officer of Investigations, Ezra concealed business income amounting to a staggering sum of approximately 4.5 million shekels between 2018 and the present.
Intelligence and Investigation
The case began to unfold following sensitive intelligence information that landed on the desks of the intelligence headquarters investigators at the Tax Authority. The information pointed to suspicious conduct surrounding the business: a relative of Ezra, who originally established the vegetable shop and transferred its formal management to Ezra in 2018, continued to receive payments into his accounts from credit card clearing companies. These payments amounted to significantly higher sums than those actually reported to the tax authorities by the business.
Following the intelligence, a covert and comprehensive investigation was launched, revealing a disturbing picture regarding the bookkeeping methods. It turned out that Ezra, who was responsible for submitting periodic reports on the business's income starting in 2018, completely omitted all income received via credit cards. Concurrently, suspicions strengthened within the investigation unit that cash receipts paid by customers at the store were transferred directly to that same relative, completely ignoring the legal reporting requirement.
Court Proceedings and Release
After establishing an initial evidentiary foundation, the investigation became overt. Tax Authority investigators raided relevant targets, conducted thorough searches, and seized documents and evidence linking those involved to the offenses. Within this framework, Ezra and other involved parties were interrogated under caution.
"The Tax Authority emphasizes that the investigation into the affair is ongoing, and additional investigative actions are expected to examine the full scope of tax evasion and the involvement of other parties in the affair."
At the conclusion of the hearing at the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court, and after reviewing the investigative materials presented to the court, it was decided to release Ezra under restrictive conditions. The Tax Authority emphasizes that the investigation continues.
