Two residents of Afula were injured Sunday morning after being attacked by four pitbull dogs on Herzl Street in the city. A 43-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were evacuated to the HaEmek Medical Center suffering from bite and scratch wounds. According to reports, the owners of the dogs were located and all four animals were captured.
Victoria, 43, recounted that she was attacked while on her way to work. Four pitbulls—two adult females and two puppies—suddenly jumped her. The adults attacked, she recalled, describing how she fell to the ground while two dogs continued their assault. A colleague driving by spotted her on the ground, using her car to push the dogs away, while two garbage truck drivers also rushed to assist. After sustaining multiple bites and scratches, Victoria managed to jump into her friend's car just before the ambulance arrived.
Moshe, 26, was also injured after stepping outside his home around 6:00 AM. His wife Ayala told Mako that her husband encountered the pack after they had targeted the first victim. One of the dogs bit his leg deeply before he managed to kick them away. Both victims sustained mild-to-moderate injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the emergency department. Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
