Netflix has officially ordered a new spin-off series in the "Stranger Things" universe, titled "Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure", with a scheduled release in 2028. The announcement was made as part of the annual "Stranger Things Day" on November 6, marking the date when Will Byers disappeared in the original series.

The upcoming project takes viewers back to 1955 in the town of Marion, Nevada, decades before the events of the original show. According to the creators, the series will explore events leading up to Henry Creel's encounter with the mysterious substance that granted him his powers, introducing an entirely new cast of heroes and villains alongside fresh supernatural mysteries.

Matt and Ross Duffer are executive producing the series through Upside Down Pictures, alongside writer and showrunner Kate Trefry, who previously worked on the original series and the stage play "Stranger Things: First Shadow". Director Joe Wright is set to direct the first three episodes and serve as executive producer, with filming scheduled to take place in New Mexico.
