The Space fitness club chain, founded by Haim Frankel in 2008, is expanding its nationwide presence and is set to open its 40th branch this month. In 2016, the company launched its first low-cost branch under the Space FIX brand, offering gym memberships for 99 NIS per month. Now, alongside investments in new clubs, this price point is becoming less common across the chain.

Currently, a new club is opening in Ashdod with an investment of approximately 7 million NIS. The facility spans about 2,000 square meters across two floors and will feature GYM80 equipment. Concurrently, subscribers at the FIX branch in Givatayim were informed that their monthly fee will increase in December from 99 to 149 NIS, representing an annual addition of 600 NIS.

Explaining the price hike, Frankel noted that the 99 NIS rate had remained unchanged at certain branches since 2015, while wage, rent, maintenance, and energy costs have risen significantly. He emphasized that all new branches opened over the past three years launched at 149 NIS per month, meaning the new pricing standard is now extending to long-time subscribers who previously enjoyed the discounted rate.

Meanwhile, competitors in the budget fitness sector offer varying rates. Icon Fitness provides plans starting from approximately 159 NIS per month with an annual commitment, alongside a 99 NIS morning-only plan, while Profit has offered a 119 NIS off-peak plan. Space maintains that its 149 NIS membership allows full access during all operating hours.

Expansion plans continue unabated. The Ashdod club will serve as the 39th branch, followed by the 40th branch in Ness Ziona later in November, with seven additional clubs planned for 2027 to reach a total of 47. Concurrently, Frankel's group is broadening its target audience by operating country club facilities and bringing the Gold's Gym brand to Israel for premium fitness experiences.

As part of its broader strategy, the group previously announced a collaboration with Azorim to launch a country club in Ashkelon with an investment of 8 million NIS, aiming to cater to families and local communities with integrated leisure services beyond standard gym workouts.
