Political source: 'The agreement is unacceptable, we will not retreat from the yellow line'

The Security Cabinet is convening to discuss the continuation of fighting in the Gaza Strip. Israel has clarified that the 15-point 'roadmap' presented as part of international efforts is unacceptable in its current format. Against the backdrop of these discussions, reservations are growing among cabinet ministers regarding the document and its implications for the IDF's freedom of action.

A political source stated that Israel has already informed the Americans that the 15-point document formulated by Egypt and Hamas is unacceptable and that formal reservations have been submitted. According to the source, the only measure approved by the cabinet was immunity for a limited force of Moroccan and Ugandan soldiers should they arrive in the Strip.

"We informed the Americans that we will not retreat from the current yellow line, and we will continue to thwart all threats to our forces and our citizens," the source emphasized.

There is a near-consensus within the cabinet against accepting the 'roadmap' in its current form. The opposition spans most coalition components, from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Likud ministers to those from Religious Zionism and Otzma Yehudit. Ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Orit Strock are expected to demand that the Prime Minister cancel last week's cabinet decision approving the entry of an international vanguard force into the Gaza Strip, arguing that the plan's implications were not fully disclosed. Minister Itamar Ben Gvir is also expected to demand that the matter be brought to the Knesset for discussion and a vote. As the Prime Minister himself is reportedly dissatisfied with the document, no real progress toward its approval is expected at this stage.

The 15-point 'roadmap' is part of a broad international initiative intended to promote the demilitarization of Hamas, establish a new civil governance mechanism in the Strip, deploy an international force, and facilitate a gradual Israeli withdrawal in accordance with pre-determined milestones.
