Suspicion of dangerous weapon play at Hashmonaim training base: Soldier seriously wounded by gunshot to the neck
A preliminary investigation reveals that one of the involved parties inserted a magazine into the weapon, cocked it, and pulled the trigger toward his friend. The IDF has halted training in the battalion, and the Military Police has opened an investigation.

A soldier was seriously wounded this Tuesday evening after being shot in the neck during an unusual incident at the Hashmonaim Brigade training base.
According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 21:00, while the soldiers were on personal time, three of them entered a room, locked the door, and began playing with their weapons as part of a competition to see who could cock their weapon the fastest.
At a certain point, one soldier withdrew from the game, while the other two continued. It is suspected that one of them inserted a magazine into his weapon unnoticed, continued the competition, cocked the weapon, disengaged the safety, and pulled the trigger while the weapon was pointed at his comrade. The bullet struck the soldier in the neck.
The wounded soldier was quickly evacuated to the hospital by helicopter; his condition is serious, but his life is not in danger.
An IDF spokesperson stated: "An IDF soldier was seriously wounded earlier this evening as a result of a shooting at a military base in the center of the country. The soldier was evacuated for medical treatment, and his family has been notified. The Military Police has opened an investigation, and upon its conclusion, the findings will be reviewed by the Military Prosecution."
